Summer Hartshorn Vasilas worked for several salons in Minneapolis and Denver throughout the late 1990s and into the next decade. As Summer refined her waxing skills and became more passionate about waxing, she had a dream of someday opening a studio exclusively dedicated to waxing. Taking this idea to Marilyn Hartshorn, Robin Schoh, and Alex Jimenez, Waxing the City was created to solely provide facial and body waxing—the first studio of its kind in Colorado. The four founders are still actively involved today as Waxing the City continues to expand.

From the start, the founders were committed to hiring the best and making them better. To ensure Waxing Standards of Excellence, every licensed esthetician at Waxing the City completes an extensive training course before they serve clients. In fact, our waxing techniques are so special they even have a special name: Cerology®waxing services. The word Cerology is derived from “cera” (Latin for wax). Our waxers are highly-trainedCerologist™ technicians who perform the art of waxing.

Obsessed with convenience & affordability

Founded in 2003, in the trendy LoDo neighborhood of Denver, Colorado, Waxing the City grew from a one-room studio, to a regional phenomenon. By 2010, Waxing the City added three studios in the greater Denver area and also expanded to Dallas, Texas.

In the early years, clients would drive for hours for the unrivaled waxing services at Waxing the City. While that was flattering, we knew our loyal clients deserved more convenience. One studio led to two, two led to two more, and so on. Waxing the City is now taking convenience to the next level with a national expansion. Waxing the City truly offers the convenience and expertise necessary to make waxing a lifestyle, not a special treat.

To bring Waxing the City to the world, the founders partnered with Anytime Fitness, LLC. As the world’s largest co-ed fitness franchise, Anytime Fitness can leverage its tried-and-true franchise support systems to Waxing the City franchisees.
